Choreographer Gabrielle Lamb told Dance Magazine, “I think about choreography like a dynamic painting through space.” Her dynamism has made her an in-demand, rising creative artist. A 2020 Guggenheim Fellow, she directs a NYC-based company, Pigeonwing Dance, described by The New Yorker as “eccentric… playful…curious”. Lamb was a 2024 Hearst Choreographer in Residence at Princeton University, and her most recent commissions include the Philadelphia Ballet II, Milwaukee Ballet, and Dance Aspen.

A Princess Grace Foundation Awardee, she has won fellowships and competitions at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Milwaukee Ballet, the Banff Centre, as well as the S&R Foundation’s Washington Award. Her work has been presented by American Ballet Theatre’s Incubator project, New York City Ballet’s Choreographic Institute, the MIT Museum, BalletX, the Juilliard School, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Ballet Collective, Whim W’HIM, Jacob’s Pillow, and Dance on Camera at Lincoln Center, among others.

A native of Savannah, GA, Ms Lamb trained at the Boston Ballet School and was a longtime soloist at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, later performing with Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company and Pontus Lidberg Dance in NYC. Her performing repertoire also included works by Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Nacho Duato, Sylvie Guillem, and George Balanchine. DANCE Magazine called her “a dancer of stunning clarity who illuminates the smallest details — qualities she brings to the dances she makes, too”.

In addition to her extensive ballet and contemporary dance background, she is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® and holds additional certification in the MUNZ Barre method of ballet pedagogy. She is currently enrolled in a two-year course of study in the Ilan Lev Method of somatic reeducation. These practices have profoundly influenced her singular movement vocabulary and transformed her understanding of dance.
